Just Dancing Studio’s opened for business over the weekend
of the 14th & 15th January 1985, at Permic house, in Brampton,
Chesterfield. It snowed heavily, despite this, to our delight many
people came to visit and enrol for the classes.
The studios were a magical place where the outside world
could be forgotten and the pupils could lose themselves in the music and dance.
We had many compliments and complaints
alike on a summers evening from the neighbours about the level of the children’s
singing voices!
Permic House was special to all the children who attended
the classes, we had so many parties, laughter would ring through the factory sandwiched
between the 3 studios, it was a family.
Permic House closed in April 2000, and Just Dancing
continued in the areas around Chesterfield, Holymoorside, Barlow, Brampton, Poolsbrook,
Staveley, Ashgate, Wingerworth and Clay Cross.
Today in 2010 Just Dancing is still very much alive
and moving forward. Classes are held in Wingerworth and Brampton.
The children who pass through the doors are still as
special as those who came before, the laughter still rings through the rooms and
everyone has fun, but we have serious times too, when exams are happening and rehearsals
for Festivals, displays, shows.
We hope you will join us in this our Silver Anniversary
year, in the celebrations we are planning a party (or two), a show, and then of
course there will be the Festivals and competitions we regularly attend, as well
as any invitations to dance in and around Chesterfield.
We also hope to do another Children in Need sponsored dance and hopefully
raise another £700, as we did in 2009.
