OUR CHILD PROTECTION POLICY

Miss Dawn is the Principal and therefore the co-ordinator for child protection issues, in her absence this responsibility falls to the most senior teacher in class.

The staff at Just Dancing Studios will endeavour to treat all pupils with dignity, respect and understanding at all times, and will expect the same courtesy offered by the pupils in return.

Pupils will be treated kindly and firmly by all staff and student teachers. It is imperative that discipline is maintained in class to avoid accidents!

The staff and students will be appropriately security checked by the correct authorities.

Staff will mainly be recruited from one of 3 professional bodies: IDTA – International Dance Teachers Association, RAD- Royal Academy of Dance, ISTD-Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance, and references will be requested and applied for. All staff new to the school will be given a 2 month probationary period.

Most staff members will have been trained by Just Dancing Studios.

Any parent who wishes to discuss a particular member of staff or has a grievance can make an appointment to meet with the principal.

Children will be listened to and any specific disclosures ie: Physical abuse, sexual abuse, bullying, or any other harming action towards that pupil, will be acted upon in the correct way.

A record containing the pupils: Date of Birth, Contact Address, Telephone Numbers, Emergency Contact details , which School they attend, Relevant Medical History, and a list of people who may be allowed to take the children from class will be kept on file. A second letter of consent signed by parents will be requested when children are participating in Competitions/Festivals or Shows.

All staff, pupils and venues for classes will be issued with a copy of this policy as will any performance venues eg; Pomegranate Theatre, Chesterfield.

To Dance is to Live and to Live is to dance!
